Blogs Suck!

Just thought I’d flex my new administrative power to state for the record that blogs suck. I think we should use gopher instead.

In fact I think our next project should be a self replicating worm that exploits php based blogs, installs the gopher protocol on the host machine then proceeds to recursively convert all blog entries into gopher format and finally replaces all php pages with redirectors to the newly made gopher tree.

Anyone with me?

In fact, on your suggestion, I’ve converted this entire system to gopher. All of the pages and content you are reading now are being served up by a GoFish gopher server running on the 386 in my closet.

However, in order to maximize backwords compatibility, I’ve whipped up a tiny Gopher->PHP conversion engine that silently and transparently accepts standard HTTP requests and converts them to Gopher requests, the responses to which are automagically re-converted and displayed via HTML and PHP, for those unwilling to revert to Gopher to read your friggin’ blog postings. ;)See, isn’t amazing what one can do with 10 minutes of spare time and a stack of RFCs? In fact, I bet you can’t even tell this is being server by Gopher, can you?
